The history of the Nanomak Federation runs in tandem with the history of mankind’s exodus from Old Earth to become an interstellar species.
It was the Nanomak Corporation that developed the mankind-saving technologies that were the Exo-chip and advanced fusion reaction. It was they who helped mankind to reach out to the darkest corners of our home system — and the Black Gate that lurked there — and they who divined its secrets and opened up the galaxy for our exploration and exploitation.
So when all connection to Old Earth and its bickering power brokers were lost, and all seemed doomed beyond hope of salvation, it was Nanomak that steered mankind’s destiny into a new age.
Today, the Nanomak Federation is an interstellar realm of many contradictions. Travel its breadth and you will see humanity in all its glory and depravity. Planet-spanning megacities inhabited by the opulent and downtrodden. Alien planets of unsurpassed beauty, and paradises lost as they are entirely consumed for every last nugget of value by the corporate machine. The wonders of technological progress, and the backward slide of apathy. A representative parliamentary system that serves shadowy corporate overlords. Social mobility for those with the drive to persevere, but only so far. The riches of entire solar systems plucked for the benefits of Federation citizenry, and yet poverty is rife.
True to human nature, the Federation has become selfserving, corrupt and a burden on the citizenry it is meant to serve. The Rebellion that broke its rule centuries ago is proof enough of that. But it is not done yet…
For all its attempts at stamping out the human spirit, there is still opportunity and hope for those that are willing to seize it.
